Choosing to adopt a dog is a fantastic and rewarding thing to do, but it can also be a big change for everyone involved; not least your new family member, who may find the move confusing, scary or overwhelming. It’s not unusual for rescue dogs to need a little help settling in, especially if they’ve never lived in a house before or have moved around several times.
My rescue dog support sessions are designed to help your rescue dog settle in smoothly. I focus on building trust, confidence and basic skills that will allow your dog to live a happy and fulfilled life in their new environment. This can include:
- Building a strong relationship
- Building confidence in and out of the home
- Getting used to urban noises, household objects, new people, new dogs etc
- Building a daily routine
- Learning appropriate play
- Independence training: learning to be alone
- Focus and Attention
- Toilet training
- Recall
- Learning to settle
- Learning how to walk nicely on a lead
- Jumping up
- Any other issues you may be experiencing
Of course, the above list is not exhaustive. Sessions will be tailored to suit the needs of you and your individual dog.
I offer a free, no obligation phone consultation to discuss your situation, and also so you can get to know me and how I can help you.
